Fernandes, Nagasawa attend Fish Muscle Workshop

Dr. Jorge Fernandes and Dr. Kazue Nagasawa attended the Fish Muscle Growth and Repair: Models Linking Biomedicine and Aquaculture Workshop organized by The Company of Biologists in Wilton Park, Steyning, West Sussex, United Kingdom on June 26-29, 2011 .

 

This workshop gathered almost 30 experts and researchers on fish muscle biology to discuss the present status and future perspectives of this area of research.  Dr. Fernandes was invited to deliver a talk on “miRNAs and epigenetic regulation of muscle development in teleosts”. Dr. Nagasawa also presented a poster entitled “How light influences muscle growth in Atlantic cod”. The travel of Dr. Nagasawa was supported by a grant he received from the Norwegian Research Council’s Functional Genomics in Norway – FUGE programme.
